The Cairnholm Murder Club presents

Dr. Quill’s Cabinet

Every Monday morning, before the week can commit its first indiscretion, Dr. Quill stocks the seven day-drawers of his apothecary cabinet with his seven planetary phials — by rules of his own devising, and in an order he declines to write down. The ledger records what the rules require; the reader supplies the rest. Pencil recommended; coffee assumed.

The Phials

Seven phials, each sealed in its own wax and marked with its planet and its metal. The label states each phial’s temper — hot, cold, or tempered — and Quill’s tempers are not open to dispute.

The Ledger

The standing rules of the cabinet, in Quill’s hand:

      The Cabinet

Set each phial in its drawer: choose a phial from the shelf, then touch a drawer to place it. Touch a placed phial to return it to the shelf.
